1900 - Monday 1 July - 3G Astroturf pitch

Greetings from the NAM-FA here at Lancaster.

It’s almost time to dig out those shorts and socks from the back of your miscellaneous clothes
drawer, and - smiling as you polish up your old faithful boots - dream of 30-yard screamers. The
last-minute shot that gracefully curves through the air and pings off the inside post before spinning
across the netting. Or maybe it’ll cannon off your shin and roll over the line, tantalising as the
keeper scrambles in slow motion, before literally tens of people erupt in halfhearted applause.

The NAM football tournament is for everyone. It’s a bit of fun and exercise, with a spoonful of
healthy competition thrown in. Mixed teams are very welcome. Tournament victors will receive the
trophy of trophies (does anyone know where it is?), and a hand-crafted wooden spoon awaits the
leaders of the upside-down table.

Please provide a team name and up to 7 players (5 players + 2 rolling substitutes). If you don’t
have a team, just enter ‘Solo’ under the team name and we’ll make sure you get to play.

The tournament will be played on a lovely 3G synthetic pitch, so please wear suitable footwear /
astroturf shoes (no studs or blades). Changing rooms and showers are available in the sports
centre (a 5-minute walk from the pitches). We strongly recommend that all players wear shin
protection and that all goalkeepers wear proper goalkeeping gloves. Please note that participants
play at their own risk, and the organisers can take no responsibility for any injury, damage or loss.
The tournament will begin as close as possible to 1900. The last session of the day finishes at
1800 on Monday, so please make your way to the astroturf pitch in good time (1830 would be
great).
