The UK Solar System Data Centre (UKSSDC) maintains a large archive of current and historical Solar-Terrestrial Physics data. Much of the historical data is only available on paper or film which limits its usefulness for scientific research. We are looking at creating a multi-strand citizen science (zooniverse) project to both analyse early film ionograms from Slough (1930-1950s) and digitisation of tabulated ionospheric parameters from many ionosonde stations worldwide. This will involve large scale scanning of the original paper print ionograms (up to 2m) and printed/hand written tables stored in the UKSSDC. Extension to other areas of the UKSSDC archives are feasible depending on levels of interest from the community.
